Your clipboard history stays on your Mac
Everything you copy, in every format, is stored only on your Mac, in a file in your Library folder. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. Searching the text inside images is done on your Mac with on-device OCR, so even your screenshots are read locally and never sent anywhere.
If you turn on sync between your Macs, only small text clips travel, and only through a shared folder you choose (iCloud Drive by default). There is no ClipLedge server in that path; your Macs sync the folder themselves.
What the activation service keeps
When you activate a license, the app contacts our activation service once to tie the license to your Mac. To run licensing and support, that service stores:
- A hash of your license key (not the key itself).
- A hash of your Mac's hardware identifier (the identifier itself never leaves your Mac).
- Your Mac's sharing name (for example "Josh's MacBook"), so you can tell your Macs apart.
- The name and email contained in your license, so we can support you.
- Timestamps of activation, deactivation and validation checks.
No clipboard content is ever sent to or stored by the activation service.
Analytics and cookies
The ClipLedge website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is privacy-first: it sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across other sites. It records only aggregate measurements such as page views and page-load performance. The site uses no third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Payments
ClipLedge is sold by Josh Snoddy, trading as ClipLedge. When you buy, your payment is processed by Stripe under Stripe's privacy policy. Stripe collects your payment details; we receive the name and email needed to issue and support your license, not your card details. Your license key is emailed to you from licenses@clipledge.com.
Your choices
You can delete your clipboard history at any time from within the app. To have your activation and license records removed, contact us.
