ClipLedge is built to be private by default. Your clipboard history stays on your Mac, and several things are never recorded at all.
What is never recorded
- Passwords and other concealed data. When a password manager copies a password, it marks the clipboard as concealed or transient. ClipLedge honours that and does not record it.
- Copies from excluded apps. Anything copied while an app you have excluded is in front is skipped.
Default app exclusions
Out of the box, ClipLedge ignores copies from Passwords, Keychain Access and 1Password. You can remove these or add your own in Settings > Privacy.
Exclude your own apps
Open Settings > Privacy and add any app to the ignored list. Copies made while that app is in front are not recorded, which is handy for banking apps, note apps holding secrets, or anything you would rather keep out of your history.
Hidden from screen sharing and recording
The shelf is hidden from screen sharing and screen recordings, so your clips do not show up on a call or in a capture.
Everything stays on your Mac
Your whole history lives in a file on your Mac and is never uploaded. Searching the text inside images is done on your Mac with on-device Vision OCR, so even your screenshots are read locally. You can turn OCR off in Settings if you prefer.
If you use sync between your Macs, only small text clips travel, through a folder you choose, with no server in between.
